Confirm the XREF and current housing first. Main and RCCC have different visiting schedules; current official pages also conflict on mail, photos and several service windows. The guide hosts the practical steps and identifies each unresolved point beside the responsible contact.

Choose the correct account and mail address.

  4. Plan ahead

Arrange care, court, transport and release.

PART 01

Confirm custody and destination

Find the person, XREF and the correct adult jail.

Locate the person and save the XREF

  1. Use the Sheriff's official inmate information search by first and last name or XREF; complete the security check. Compare spelling and other identifiers, not just a matching name.
  2. Keep the booked name, XREF, booking/registry number, housing, case numbers, charges, holds, bail and next court date shown. XREF identifies the person; booking/registry identifies a custody episode, and case extensions such as -01 / -02 distinguish cases. Housing includes floor/unit/bunk.
  3. If no result appears, try name variants and call 916-874-6752. Ask whether booking is incomplete, the person was released, transferred, or is held by another agency. An arresting city police department is not necessarily the housing facility.
  4. Check again before travel, mail or payment. A projected release date can change because of other cases, holds or discipline. A release date/time appears after release; the system does not promise a future pickup time.

SIRENS offers custody-status notifications by email, text or telephone. Register from the person's record or ask 916-874-6752. Keep contact details current and still confirm the actual destination before pickup.

Confirm actual housing rather than choosing by charge or gender. Work Release at 700 North Fifth Street, Suite 100, Sacramento, CA 95811 is an alternative-sentencing office, not a third visiting jail. County Youth Detention belongs to Probation; California State Prison–Sacramento/Folsom, federal RRM and immigration custody have separate operators and rules. A contract placement does not make RCCC a separately operated federal jail.

The Sheriff still hosts an undated flood-evacuation page. It does not establish a current closure: RCCC's current visiting page publishes a schedule effective January 7, 2026 and a separate road-construction alert. Use current custody and jail confirmation for any disruption.

Sheriff administration is 4500 Orange Grove Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95841. Nonemergency dispatch is 916-874-5115; TDD 916-874-7128. These are distinct from jail information and visitor arrival.

PART 02

Plan an in-person visit

Full Main and RCCC schedules, identification, children and screening.

Prepare the visit in order

  1. Confirm Main or RCCC, exact housing/classification and the person's remaining visiting allowance. RCCC requires its housing and surname matrix; Main uses daily start times.
  2. Choose the correct registration window, collect every visitor's ID and children's relationship documents, and plan secure storage of prohibited items.
  3. Call the facility before a long trip if housing is special, you need an accommodation, or a restriction may apply. Public pages do not establish an advance approved-list application or appointment process; ask whether the particular housing requires one rather than assuming eligibility.
  4. Arrive early enough for registration, screening and queues. Main is first come as time/space allow; RCCC has explicit registration cutoffs below. Neither a journey nor waiting guarantees admission.

Both allow at most 3 visitors, counting children and infants. Main permits visiting only 1 detained person during a visit. Unplanned cancellations occur; check current Sheriff notices and 916-874-6752 / 916-874-1927. Staff cannot promise an extra visit for travel distance. Ask in advance about long-distance, compassionate, disability, language or religious accommodations and what approval/documentation is needed.

Space and time control first-come admission; weekends can be crowded. The public rule does not publish a separate mandatory advance-arrival interval. Identification, children and restricted visitors

Main: valid current driver license or DMV ID from any of the 50 states or Mexico, military ID, passport, or Mexican Matricula Consular (MCAS). Bring originals; the public list does not approve expired IDs or photocopies. Minors under 18 need an accompanying parent/legal guardian and birth certificate or court guardianship proof; remain with that adult in the booth. An emancipated minor needs the original court order to visit alone. The supervising adult cannot visit a different person during that visit.

RCCC: state driver license/ID (no temporary ID), military ID, Immigration and Naturalization card, photo permanent-resident card, Mexican Matricula, passport or official foreign identification. Under 18 must be accompanied by parent/guardian with birth certificate or court proof, unless the visitor is the detained person's spouse with certified marriage certificate, or has certified emancipation documentation.

Main requires commander/watch-supervisor consent if released from either jail within 30 days or previously convicted of a felony and confined in California state prison under PC 4571. RCCC excludes people released from either jail within 30 days, people on parole from any state and active work-release/work-furlough participants; its prior-state-prison felony rule has a commander/watch-supervisor consent exception. Ask before arrival; do not assume that exception overrides every RCCC exclusion. Neither jail publishes a notarized-permission route for an unrelated adult to escort a child.

Clothing, belongings and infant supplies

Main: bring only ID, keys and a small wallet; secure purses, phones and backpacks elsewhere. No electronic devices, smart watches, tablets, pens, pencils, paper, photos, lighters, tobacco or e-cigarettes. Wear shoes, sandals or boots and modest covered clothing. No see-through, sleeveless, thin-strap, backless, midriff, cutout or bathing-suit styles, very short shorts/skirts, or gang, hate, sexual, drug or violent designs. All visitors face search/metal screening; refusal means denial.

RCCC: only 1 car key/remote and 1 ID, plus wedding/engagement rings or medical-alert tag. Money is for the kiosk only. Leave other items in the vehicle. No belts, headwear, excessive jewelry, electronics, writing items, tobacco or lighters; heavy coats/jackets depend on weather. Underwire bras are prohibited. Clothes must cover chest and midriff, with shorts/skirts at least mid-thigh; no revealing tears, see-through clothing, visible underwear, sleeveless/tank/tube/backless tops or prohibited images. Rules apply to children. Choose footwear suitable for uneven ground.

RCCC permits a clear plastic bag with 1 bottle, 1 diaper, 1 blanket and wipes for an infant. No diaper bag, stroller, car seat or carrier. Once a visitor leaves the visiting room, return is not permitted. Main does not publish an equivalent infant-kit exception: ask before bringing supplies. For religious headwear, medical devices/metal or disability needs, seek screening instructions in advance rather than removing necessary equipment without staff guidance.

Set up calls and handle connection failures

For calls, create the appropriate account in the Securus portal or call 800-844-6591. Verify your exact receiving telephone number and Sacramento facility, then fund only the service you need. Calls come from the person in custody; family cannot ring the housing phone directly. Treat ordinary calls as monitored rather than a confidential attorney channel.

If calls fail, first confirm housing and telephone access with 916-874-6752 / 916-874-1927; then ask Securus about number blocks, account verification, balance, carrier restrictions or a failed connection. Check your phone's spam blocking and acceptance prompts. Give date/time, called number, XREF, error wording and transaction ID. A custody restriction, transfer or court trip cannot be repaired by adding more money.

The provider's California English disclosure, updated June 23, 2026, caps in-state debit/prepaid/collect voice calls at $0.045 per minute and describes rounding to the next whole minute. It prohibits single-call, paper-bill, live-agent, automated-payment and third-party credit-card processing fees for California-facility call accounts; third-party Western Union/MoneyGram fees have a $6.95 cap and government charges may pass through without markup. This is a regulatory/provider ceiling, not a verified Sacramento tariff or promise of free calls. Ask for the applicable rate before paying; interstate/international pricing can differ. The Spanish provider notice remains dated October 7, 2021, so this guide translates the newer English disclosure.

After trying provider support, California complaint assistance is 800-469-7570, Monday–Friday 08:30–16:30. Current jail-specific call length, free-call allocation and phone hours were not published in the reviewed family pages.

Video availability and unused-balance refunds

Family video visits could not be verified for either jail. The current Sheriff pages publish physical visiting schedules, phone service and digital mail; a tablet or Securus account does not establish enabled video visits. Before buying video credit, ask 916-874-6752 / 916-874-1927 and 800-844-6591 whether the exact housing supports family video, its booking lead time, approval, duration, price and cancellation deadline. Do not apply another county's Securus rules.

If a confirmed service becomes available, check the booked facility/person, time zone, approved participants, ID requirements and camera/microphone/network test before the appointment. For a failed session save its booking number, actual connection duration and error, and request a provider case number and credit/refund decision. A technical failure and a jail cancellation may have different remedies; no Sacramento-specific automatic refund policy was found.

For unused AdvanceConnect funds, the account owner requests closure/refund through Securus. Its general instructions describe card refunds to the last card used in 2–3 business days, or mailed checks in 2–3 weeks. Securus Debit belongs to the detained person; a family deposit does not give the sender refund ownership. A transfer does not automatically move a family balance to a new provider. California fee restrictions above control over a generic nationwide fee statement. Ask support to confirm the actual method and keep its reference number.

Send a printed message and troubleshoot delivery

  1. Find the person in custody and select the envelope/email icon. Complete sender verification and the security check.
  2. Write a text-only message that fits 1 page. Each sender may send 1 message per person per day; the person generally receives up to 10 total messages in 24 hours, resetting at midnight. No pictures or attachments.
  3. Look for verification from noreply@sacsheriff.com. If absent after 10 minutes, check spam and add that sender; the address is not monitored for replies. Resubmit if the verification link expires.
  4. Staff screen and print accepted messages, generally the next day. The detained person cannot email back through this service and must use outgoing postal mail. A message is not delivered after release.

No privacy is promised. Do not use this route for privileged legal material, urgent health information or a release pickup emergency. Call jail/clinical staff for those needs.

Photos, scanning, original letters and release retrieval

Digital Mail Center scans approved correspondence in color for tablet delivery, ordinarily within 48 hours of receipt excluding weekends/holidays, plus facility inspection time. A person without tablet access receives a printed copy. Originals are held 30 days and then destroyed unless the sender supplies a self-addressed stamped envelope for return. Do not send irreplaceable originals.

No drugs or marijuana-related material, weapons, gang activity, violence/crime, nudity/sexual imagery, hand signs, or images/descriptions of money. Both facility mail pages prohibit Polaroids and photos larger than 4 × 6 inches and limit possession to 10 photos; RCCC's visiting page instead says commercially developed photos up to 5 × 7 inches. The central digital-mail policy does not reconcile these physical-photo limits. Use the smaller published size and ask the mailroom about quantity and tablet-image limits before a larger order. No stationery, stamps, envelopes, adhesives, glitter, musical cards, metal/plastic objects, padded envelopes or other enclosures listed as prohibited on facility pages.

After release/transfer the person can retrieve stored digital mail at DMC Download Center using XREF and the password created on the tablet. Download within 60 days; the central notice says it is permanently deleted afterward. Correspondence violations may restrict access for up to 72 hours; ask staff about an individual restriction. For delay, distinguish USPS transit, DMC receipt and jail screening; retain mailing details and contact Securus/jail with the XREF.

Money, essentials and property

Deposit correctly, request essentials and arrange authorized pickup.

Deposit money without mixing accounts

  1. Confirm booked name, XREF and housing. For TouchPay use facility code 257501.
  2. Use TouchPay online, automated deposits at 866-232-1899, or a lobby kiosk at Main/RCCC. Main lists cash, credit and debit cards. Review fees and limits before submitting and keep the receipt.
  3. For a money order/cashier's check, make it payable to the incarcerated person, include XREF and housing, and do not endorse the back. No personal checks, government checks or state/federal tax-refund checks.
  4. Mail deposits for either jail only to RCCC, Attn: IWF Office, 12500 Bruceville Road, Elk Grove, CA 95757, with sender full name/address. Include no letter or other item. The jail says money orders post within 24 hours of receipt.

The public cashier windows at Main and RCCC Gatehouse are closed. Main's funds page calls the kiosk available “any time,” while its public lobby hours are 07:00–23:00; ask 916-874-6752 about after-hours access rather than arriving on that phrase alone. Commissary-order funds must be on the trust account before Sunday 07:00 at both jails; times can change.

TouchPay support: 866-204-1603. Its general help describes deposit processing within 1–24 hours; facility restrictions can affect it. For wrong-person or duplicate payments, stop further payment, retain receipt and contact support and iwf@sacsheriff.com. A completed transaction is not automatically cancellable or refundable to the sender.

Commissary, iCare, indigent basics and release funds

The Sheriff links to Sacramento iCare for approved gift orders. Select the exact recipient and confirm current eligibility, product limits, delivery cycle and total price at checkout; private mailed packages are not an alternative. Keep order number and ask iCare/IWF about a transfer, release, restriction or missing delivery before reordering. Public jail pages do not publish a current universal order limit or automatic refund entitlement.

If the person has no money, they should ask housing staff for indigent hygiene, writing supplies and necessary postage and ask how to submit/renew the request. Current balance threshold, waiting period, kit contents, replacement frequency and later deductions were not found in current public Sheriff/IWF instructions. Ask IWF through iwf@sacsheriff.com or the facility for the current policy; report an immediate hygiene, disability or medical need to staff without waiting for a family deposit. Do not treat a past news account as current eligibility.

Both jail funds pages say remaining trust money is issued on a NUMI MasterCard debit card at release; agency transfers receive a check under the published policy. Before leaving, check balance, card activation instructions, available cash-out methods and fee sheet, and retain the card paperwork for missing funds. No current jail-specific NUMI fee schedule was verified. This trust balance is separate from unused family Securus money, iCare purchases and court-held bail.

Arrange property and money pickup

Main property: obtain a release form at the lobby registration table/front counter, complete it and submit it at the public counter. Collector needs accepted visiting ID and must wait. Release covers all personal property except clothing; published processing is 1–3 hours and may take longer. For money, specify the exact amount. Main allows money release only once per custody and only money held at booking; no Main money releases on weekends or holidays.

RCCC property: pickup is daily 07:30–21:00. Ask the detained person to submit the authorization beforehand; a gatehouse request without it can cause extensive delay. RCCC does not release clothing unless the person is going to state prison. Items essential to health/wellbeing may be accepted at the gatehouse officer's discretion, not as permission to bring any medication or equipment.

RCCC money: the person requests and signs the Property/Money Release form through the floor officer for approval. Requests are reviewed Monday–Thursday; approved pickups are at Gatehouse daily 08:00–22:00. Confirm approval, named recipient, ID and exact pickup desk with 916-874-1927 before travel. These money hours differ from property hours. For court clothing or a release clothing exchange, ask the facility and counsel for prior approval; a current general public drop-off rule was not found.

These are paid public garages, not jail parking. The county's dedicated hours page gives the weekday window above, while its general page also contains a 24/7/365 statement. Do not rely on after-hours entry or retrieval without checking posted garage instructions. Accessible county spaces are charged at off-street rates. From either garage, follow public sidewalks toward the Main Jail's 651 I Street visitor entrance; parking time does not include screening or the visit. The courthouse at 500 G Street is a different destination.

RCCC road alert: the current visiting page says the Lambert Road/Bruceville Road intersection is closed for construction. Reach Bruceville from Twin Cities Road and head north; Twin Cities is accessible from I-5, Highway 99 or Franklin Boulevard. Confirm detour status with 916-874-1927 before leaving. The page anticipates visitors securing belongings in vehicles, but does not publish visitor-lot fees, accessible-space locations or a verified pedestrian approach. Ask which visitor parking area and gatehouse entrance to use; do not park in staff/restricted areas. No reopening date is promised here.

Rail to Main and rural RCCC limits

Main: SacRT's current station page identifies 7th & I/County Center on Gold and Green lines and marks the station wheelchair accessible. It is at the jail's downtown block: use the marked street crossings and public sidewalk to 651 I Street, then follow jail visitor signs. Confirm direction and current alerts; a station's accessible label does not verify the jail door, screening route or construction conditions. The operator's central station index contains some mismatched labels, so use this station's own page and trip planner rather than its stray address entries.

RCCC: no current operator stop or fixed-route service at the 12500 Bruceville Road gate was verified. SacRT E110's current stop list includes urban Bruceville/Sheldon/Calvine and Cosumnes River College connections, not a confirmed RCCC entrance stop. Cosumnes River College is not Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center. Do not plan an unverified rural roadside walk, especially for early release or evening visits; arrange a vehicle/drop-off and return pickup.

SacRT route planning: 916-321-2877, Monday–Friday 07:00–17:30; weekends 07:00–16:00. Give the exact jail address, registration cutoff and return time and ask specifically about the final approach. SacRT GO requires ADA eligibility and service-area availability; it is not automatically available to RCCC. Reservations at 916-321-2877, option 2 then 2, daily 07:00–17:00; book up to 2 days ahead by 17:00 the previous day. Confirm destination coverage and gate access before depending on it.

PART 06

Care, court and the next step

Health communication, grievances, current court, release and reentry.

Give medical and mental-health information safely

For a current safety emergency, alert housing staff immediately. Family should call Main 916-874-6905 / 916-874-6752 or RCCC 916-874-1927 and request the on-duty supervisor and clinical response; explain immediate risk, symptoms, recent self-harm threats, withdrawal or other urgent facts. Do not wait for an email reply.

For nonurgent family concerns, Adult Correctional Health's patient-care line is 916-875-9782, Monday–Friday 08:00–17:00 excluding holidays; email DHS-PRI-InmatPatCare@saccounty.gov. Give booked name, XREF, jail, specific concern, medications/prescriber/pharmacy and last dose if known, your contact information, useful additional contacts and when a response is needed. Share information with clinical staff rather than discussing diagnoses in ordinary printed email or public comments.

Staff can receive family information, but disclosure back generally requires the patient's signed release of information. Ask the person to request the appropriate authorization and health assessment through staff; do not assume family relationship gives record access. County services include medical, mental-health, pharmacy and other indicated care. A request from family does not prescribe treatment or guarantee a particular medication.

The older Sheriff contact ledger lists a general administration number/email. The dedicated current patient-care page gives the family contact above. Adult Correctional Health administration is 916-876-7195; it is not the urgent custody line.

Sources: Sheriff: correctional health · reviewed 2026-09-28 · County: family patient-care contact · reviewed 2026-09-28 · County: Adult Correctional Health and records · reviewed 2026-09-28 · Sheriff: agency and attorney contacts · reviewed 2026-09-28

Medicines, glasses, health records and continuity

Before delivering medication, glasses, dentures, mobility equipment or other medical items, give the patient-care team the exact item, prescription details and urgency and ask who can approve it, where it goes and what labeling/documentation is required. No current general family medication-drop procedure was verified. RCCC's gatehouse may accept essential health/wellbeing items at officer discretion; that is not blanket medication approval. Do not put pills or devices in ordinary mail or arrive expecting acceptance.

For health records, use the county's records/authorization process: CHS-Med-Records@saccounty.gov, fax 916-854-8983. Confirm the required signed authorization and recipient before sending sensitive records. Records processing is different from requesting a current clinical assessment.

Start release planning while the person is still in custody: ask the clinical team about a medication list, supply/prescription at discharge, follow-up appointments, insurance/Medi-Cal coordination, equipment and treatment referrals. County Adult Correctional Health describes CalAIM justice-involved transition work and its ROAR coordination portal; the portal is for registered community-organization users, not an automatic family self-enrollment or promise of services. Ask the assigned team for the person's actual plan and a contact after release.

Grievances, staff complaints and sexual-safety reports

For an ordinary custody or mail complaint, the detained person should request the current grievance form and handbook from housing staff, state dates, facts, requested remedy and affected service, and keep the submission/response and appeal instructions. For health concerns, also ask Adult Correctional Health for its health grievance/appeal route. Current ordinary filing, response and appeal deadlines could not be verified from public family pages; ask staff for them promptly. A family complaint does not substitute for the person's required grievance or court deadline.

Family can report staff misconduct to Internal Affairs, 916-874-5098, Monday–Friday 08:00–16:30 except holidays; InternalAffairs@sacsheriff.com; 4500 Orange Grove Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95841. Use the official complaint form and keep a reference number. Provide location, approximate time, names/descriptions, witnesses and supporting documents. For immediate safety, call the jail supervisor first.

Sexual abuse, harassment or retaliation may be reported by family/third parties without waiting for an ordinary grievance. Sheriff publishes Main Watch Commander 916-874-6905, RCCC 916-874-1927, dispatch 916-874-5115 and WEAVE 916-920-2952. Inside, tell staff immediately and ask for medical care and the confidential reporting options described by PREA. The public page mentions an inmate hotline but does not publish its dialing number; request it from staff. Ask the advocate about confidentiality and reporting obligations; do not promise absolute secrecy.

Lorenzo Patiño Hall of Justice651 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814; 916-874-6936Jail-related criminal proceedings; verify department and hearing notice.

Current criminal court information names these destinations. Older jail resource lists still send criminal customers to Gordon D. Schaber at 720 9th Street; do not use that old address without a current case-specific instruction. The jail visitor desk, public courtroom access and criminal clerk are different services even where an address is shared.

Use the court notice/calendar to confirm case number, department, date, time, in-person/remote rules and whether the detained person's appearance is by video. Allow time for court security; ask the clerk before arrival for interpreter or disability access and any special entry arrangements. Public direct court pages returned access errors during this review; current official indexed court text and the accessible new criminal portal supplied the details above. Call the clerk if a notice conflicts.

Case lookup, records and defense counsel

The court's new criminal public portal applies from August 10, 2026. It supports case/name search, calendars and specified hearing check-in functions. Use the criminal portal, not the separate civil portal or an older criminal-search bookmark. Public data is limited; older cases may lack scanned documents. Criminal-counter public kiosks are on the second floor. For help call 916-874-5522 option 1. Records requests: CrimRecordsRequests@saccourt.ca.gov or 916-874-8881; retain case number and ask about current form, fees and delivery method. A portal event does not establish jail release.

Adult Public Defender: 700 H Street, Suite 0270, Sacramento, CA 95814; 916-874-6411, Monday–Friday 08:00–17:00 except holidays; PDWebMail@saccounty.gov. Give name, XREF, case and next hearing and ask for the assigned attorney. Ask the court about appointed counsel if none is assigned; the public defender's office is separate from jail operations and cannot guarantee a release time. Avoid sensitive case discussion on monitored family calls.

For professional legal access, Main's attorney visitation information line is 916-874-5711; RCCC professionals should coordinate through 916-874-1927. Ask about current credentials, scheduling, legal-phone confidentiality and document exchange. Ordinary family visiting rules and printed email are not substitutes for an approved confidential attorney channel.

Confirm the release conditions before paying

  1. Ask 916-874-6752 for the current cases, bail amounts and all holds. A no-bail hold requires the responsible court/agency to clear it; paying one case does not resolve another.
  2. Confirm the authorized cash-bail payment location, method, exact payee and required identification before obtaining a payment instrument. The jail's public commissary cashier windows are closed; do not assume they accept cash bail or that TouchPay trust posts it.
  3. If using a licensed bail agent, ask for the contract, fee, collateral and release conditions in writing. RCCC publishes bond acceptance from bail bondsmen 24 hours daily except 06:00–08:00 and 18:00–20:00. That is a bondsman window, not a verified public cash-bail schedule or Main rule.
  4. Keep every receipt and case/booking number. Ask the criminal clerk, 916-874-5522 option 1, how court-held bail is returned, who receives it and what deductions or outstanding requirements apply. Do not treat a private agent's fee as refundable court cash.

Current public pages did not establish a complete Main/RCCC cash-bail instrument/payee procedure or a fixed refund turnaround. Counsel can discuss release eligibility and court review; this guide does not calculate an individual's bond or promise release after payment.

Prepare pickup and distinguish scheduled RCCC release

Verify that the person is actually cleared and where release will occur, not just a projected date or a court decision. Booking/release staff must resolve all cases, holds and required processing. Keep a working phone, warm appropriate clothes, charged device and a flexible return ride. Ask the person to retain court papers, prescriptions, property receipt, supervision/reporting instructions and release-card documents.

Scheduled RCCC releases: the main RCCC page tells pickup drivers to report at Gatehouse between 04:30 and 05:00. Its visiting page says arrive before 05:00 with a driver license, describes release between 05:00 and 06:00, and a Sheriff bus after 05:30 for people without rides to the Main Jail, 651 I Street. These describe the scheduled process, not a promise for every bail, court or transfer release. Call 916-874-1927 to confirm the person's actual plan before making a rural predawn trip. The Sheriff discourages offering rides to other released people.

Main's current public pages do not verify the exact release exit, family waiting area or fixed processing duration. Ask 916-874-6752 for today's instructions; do not confuse the 1–3 hour property-pickup estimate with release processing. A transfer to another agency is not release to the family.

Request education, treatment and reentry planning

RCCC Reentry Services lists ESL, adult basic education, GED preparation/testing, parenting and job-readiness classes. Vocational options include cooking, custodial work, engraving/sign printing, landscaping, welding, automotive skills, wild-horse care, beekeeping and barista training. Treatment groups address recovery, relapse prevention, coping, trauma and behavior. These offerings do not establish that every class is open to every housing unit or immediately available.

Ask housing staff for a Reentry Services referral, current eligibility, schedule and a release plan. The unit describes an employment specialist who can help screened, work-ready participants prepare for jobs and possible employer interviews. Ask for the current community resource guide and concrete referral/contact details before release; its older linked resource lists can contain outdated court addresses. Medication treatment must be assessed with Adult Correctional Health; ask about the prescribed plan and follow-up rather than selecting medication from a program description.

Community organizations seeking to provide presentations can contact Reentry@SacSheriff.com; this published provider contact is not an emergency clinical inbox. Families can start with 916-874-1927 to reach the responsible program staff. For a serious family emergency at Main, published weekday contacts are social worker 916-874-6345 or chaplain 916-874-7724, Monday–Friday 08:30–15:30; outside that window call the jail for urgent routing.

Know where and when to report to Probation

For adults placed on county probation, current county instructions say to report within 48 hours after release from jail, unless specifically instructed otherwise. Default adult reporting is 8745 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95826, Monday–Friday 08:00–16:00, closed holidays. Follow the individual written court/release order and call 916-875-0300 promptly if timing, a weekend/holiday or the reporting location is unclear. Do not simply wait until a convenient business day.

To identify an assigned officer, the automated 916-874-7762 line requires a touch-tone phone and XREF. ProbationMail@SacCounty.gov is not continuously monitored and messages may wait several days; it is not a substitute for timely reporting or an urgent call. These county adult instructions do not establish state parole, federal supervision or juvenile reporting requirements.

Release and property

Bail, property, and commissary pickup

01Bail

Bondsmen 24/7 except 6–8 a.m. and 6–8 p.m. — confirm RCCC first

Confirm the person is still at RCCC on Inmate Information or (916) 874-1927. Official RCCC Inmate Funds: bail bonds from bondsmen 24 hours / 7 days except 6:00–8:00 a.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. Felony warrants process at the Main Jail, 651 I Street. Schaber Courthouse 720 9th Street, (916) 874-5522. Posting a bond does not guarantee release if a hold applies. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6). Jail411 does not publish a bondsman directory.

02Property / release

Gatehouse 7:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m. for property; scheduled release 4:30–5:00 a.m.

Official RCCC page: property releases 7:30 a.m.–9:00 p.m. daily. The incarcerated person should submit a property release form in advance or the gatehouse will have extreme delay — staff may ask you to return in several hours or the next day. Take the entire package. You may not receive clothing unless the person is going to state prison. Essential health items may be accepted as determined by the Gatehouse officer. Visiting page: money releases reviewed Monday–Thursday; pickup Gatehouse 8:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. daily.

03After release

NUMI debit card. No ride: bus to 651 I Street after 5:30 a.m.

NUMI MasterCard debit card. People without a ride at RCCC are bused and released at the Main Jail, 651 I Street, after about 5:30 a.m. Official RCCC page: pick up a scheduled release at the gatehouse between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. Visiting page: before 5:00 a.m. with driver’s license; released 5:00–6:00 a.m. Strongly discourages offering rides to other people being released.

After booking

Court, a lawyer, probation, and parole.

Court, counsel, and probation are separate from the jail. State parole is a different agency. This is the process a family actually has to walk—not a directory of private bondsmen or attorneys.

01 Schaber Courthouse

720 9th Street — not this Elk Grove jail

RCCC is in Elk Grove; most criminal departments are downtown. Jail courtrooms at 651 I Street (Departments 60–63) are not this campus. Official locations (Wayback 2025-06-09): 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Monday–Friday excluding court holidays.

12500 Bruceville Road is the jail — not the courthouse.

02 Appointed counsel

Ask the judge at first appearance for a Public Defender if you cannot afford an attorney.

700 H Street, Suite 0270, Sacramento. Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Not this Elk Grove jail.

(916) 874-6411

03 County supervision

Probation is not parole

A probation hold can block release after bail. Adult Court Services 711 E Street, (916) 874-1500. Official RCCC page: this jail is a primary reception point for parole violators pending revocation — that is CDCR parole, not county probation.

Youth housing is YDF, not RCCC.

04 State parole, not county

Sacramento Metro parole — 8000 Elder Creek Road

RCCC is a reception point for parole violators pending revocation hearings (official RCCC page). Sacramento Metro parole 8000 Elder Creek Road, (916) 229-0105. State parole is not county probation. Folsom State Prison and CSP-Sacramento are CDCR prisons in Represa — not this Elk Grove jail.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
