Find the jail and confirm the person is there.

The county’s adult jail

The Oldham County Detention Center is at 3405 KY-146, La Grange, KY 40031. The main line is 502-222-3500.

The front lobby is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless the jail posts otherwise. When the lobby is closed, follow the signs to the after-hours entrance on the side of the building.

From Louisville, take I-71 North toward Cincinnati, take exit 18 and turn left, then turn right at the stop sign. The jail is on your left.

Confirm custody first

Call 502-222-3500 to confirm the person is held here and to get their inmate ID. Mail, money orders and deposits all need the person’s name and inmate ID as the jail records them.

The jail’s website links to VINE (vinelink.com), where you can register for custody status notices. The jail also warns that it will never call anyone asking them to post bond or pay for home incarceration over the phone. Bond and home incarceration are handled only at the jail.

PART 04

Money and phones

Commissary deposits and phone time are separate accounts.

Putting money on a commissary account

You can add money to a person’s account in four ways: online at jailfunds.com (choose Kentucky, then Oldham, then Deposit Funds), by calling 1-855-836-3364, at the black kiosk in the jail lobby, or by mailing a postal money order in the person’s name to the jail address used for money orders.

Commissary is delivered weekly by Kellwell and handed out by jail staff, so people can buy extra hygiene and food items. The jail does not publish deposit fees; check the fee before you pay.

Phone calls

People have phones inside their cells, turned on daily from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. The provider is Combined Public Communications. A newly arrested person gets one 5-minute phone card. Without money on their phone account, they can only make collect calls. Staff cannot pass messages.

To add phone time, go to inmatesales.com, call 1-877-998-5678, or use the blue kiosk in the lobby. A person can also move money from their commissary account to their phone account. Rates are not published on the jail’s site.

Bond and court

Bond is paid in cash at the jail.

Posting bond at the jail

Bond is paid at the jail. All bond payments must be in cash with exact change. Property bonds can only be taken at the courthouse in the county that set the bond.

Bond types listed by the jail include release on your own recognizance (a promise to appear), an unsecured bond that is forfeited if the person misses court, and a partially secured bond paid as a 10% cash deposit (no less than $5).

County inmates are charged a $30 booking fee and a $5 jail bond fee for each bond filled out. Oldham County inmates are also charged a $30 per day fee. These are on top of any court fees.

Anyone serving less than 7 days pays the full amount at booking; anyone serving 7 days or more pays $140 at booking and $140 each week until release. Finding someone held here

Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Oldham County Sheriff’s Office.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
