Henry County Jail — McDonough, Georgia
Start with the live HCSO record, confirm which of the two facilities holds the person, and verify the destination before every visit, payment, mailing or pickup.
JAIL411 / FAMILY FIELD GUIDE
Henry County Jail and Jail Annex family guide
Sources reviewed
Current adult county custody operated by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office across two active facilities. The Jail Annex is an active component of the same system where current HCSO evidence applies; its separate public address and transaction entrances remain unverified. This guide excludes DJJ youth custody, GDC prisons/probation, ICE/federal custody, municipal police stations, courts and community supervision.
- Confirm custody
Save the live name, PIN, charges, bond, court and present building.
- Confirm the transaction
Call 770-288-7100 for the building, door and current exception.
- Keep the record
Retain confirmations, receipts, staff names and separate court case number.
Confirm custody and building
Confirm the live record, current building and exact Henry County custody system before using any service.
Find the live HCSO custody record
- Search the official HCSO database. Use the booked name and save the person, PIN/identifier, charges and bond information. The Sheriff says the database covers people in custody, charges and bond.
- No result is not a release record. Retry spelling and call 770-288-7100 with full name, date of birth, arresting agency and arrest date. Ask whether booking delay, release, court transport, hospital, transfer, the Annex, state custody, juvenile custody or immigration custody explains the result.
- Verify the next transaction. Confirm present housing and PIN before mail, money or a visit. Keep screenshots and the separate court case number; the jail screen is not the filed docket.

One adult Sheriff system, two active facilities
| Identity | What is verified | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Henry County Jail system | HCSO adult pretrial and state-sentenced custody; 900-person capacity between two facilities; public system address 120 Henry Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253. | Call 770-288-7100 for the person’s building and transaction door. |
| Jail Annex | Current Sheriff mail page names it and the operations page confirms two facilities. It is an active HCSO component, not a separate correctional system. | Do not invent an Annex address; confirm housing and destination. |
| Metro RYDC / Henry CSO | Separate DJJ youth detention in Atlanta and juvenile supervision in McDonough. | Do not use adult rules. |
| GDC, ICE, municipal police | State/federal custody and arresting agencies remain separate identities. | Use the actual custodian’s record. |

Visits and communication
Prepare for visits and keep video, phone, trust and messaging accounts purpose-specific.
Book before travel and follow the upstairs-lobby rules
- Schedule every remote or onsite visit in advance through the Sheriff-linked JailATM page. Select Henry County and the correct person; an account alone is not a reservation.
- For onsite entry, bring a valid passport or U.S./state-issued photo ID and check in at the upstairs Visitation Desk at least 15 minutes before the appointment. One adult may visit at a time; the visit is limited to 30 minutes.
- A juvenile must remain with a parent, guardian or custodian. The Sheriff does not publish required relationship/custody papers, the number of children, infant items, alternative ID, frequency or special/long-distance exceptions. Call 770-288-7100 before bringing a minor.
Housing restrictions and conduct can cancel eligibility. Confirm whether the upstairs lobby serves the person’s current facility; current pages do not identify an Annex public visit entrance.

Pack for the published security rules
Leave food, beverages, purses/bags, phones, electronics and cameras outside the visitation area. Weapons, drugs and alcohol are prohibited; visitors are subject to search. Do not wear tank tops, spaghetti straps, bikini tops, short skirts/shorts, see-through or revealing clothing.
- Bring only the accepted ID and staff-confirmed medical/mobility item.
- Any item staff has specifically authorized for the detained person must go to the Inmate Relations Officer before the visit; permission is not inferred from this rule.
- If late, denied or sent to another building, do not argue at a secure door. Record the reason and call 770-288-7100.
Sources: HCSO visitation
Set up video and preserve a failed-session record
- Use the Sheriff-linked JailATM portal, create an account with reachable email/phone, select Henry County and the correct person, then use only displayed availability and price.
- Before start, update the browser/app, permit camera and microphone, charge the device and test the connection. Join early from a private, rule-compliant location.
- For a missing, failed or charged session, save confirmation, appointment time, device, error and charge. Contact ICSolutions and call 770-288-7100 if housing or eligibility may have changed.
The Sheriff does not publish booking lead time, cancellation cutoff, failed-session credit timing or device matrix. The page calls the service ICSolutions but sends scheduling to JailATM; confirm which support desk owns the transaction.

Request visit and custody accommodations separately
For a detained person, ask them to submit a kiosk request and call 770-288-7100 with the functional need, urgency, equipment/interpreter issue and current housing. For a visitor, call before booking/travel to confirm accessible check-in, permitted device, interpreter or service-animal handling and the correct building.
No official source reviewed publishes an Annex accessible entrance, parking space, elevator route, TTY, visitor accommodation form or appeal. The upstairs-lobby instruction must not be treated as proof of a step-free route. For immediate medical danger, tell jail staff/medical and use 911 for an outside emergency.

Keep trust, phone and messaging accounts distinct
| Purpose | Published route | Key check |
|---|---|---|
| Trust/commissary | Access Corrections; app, web, CashPay Today, 866-345-1884, or jail-lobby kiosk. | Confirm person/PIN; cash and internet limits are $300, with deposits blocked at balances of $300 or more. |
| Phone | ICSolutions prepaid, 888-506-8407, phone kiosk or mailed payment to 2200 Danbury Street, San Antonio, TX 78217. | Do not assume trust money funds the recipient prepaid account. |
| Email/text | JailATM account; published price $.25 per message. | Messages are monitored. |

Accept the call only after hearing its account type
The detained person receives a PIN and uses the facility site ID. HCSO lists debit (from the person’s commissary balance), family/friend prepaid and collect billing. Calls are recorded and monitored and access can be restricted.
- Create/manage prepaid service through ICSolutions or 888-506-8407.
- If calls fail, confirm the number is not blocked, the correct account has funds, carrier billing supports collect calls and the person still has access. Keep date, time, number and error.
- Ask ICSolutions about the exact local rate, taxes, block removal, refund and transfer/release balance; HCSO does not publish those outcomes.
Never discuss privileged legal strategy on a monitored family call.

Mail, books and money
Use the correct personal, legal, publication, photo and payment channel without treating one address as another.
Use the correct format for postcards, legal mail, funds and photos
Personal correspondence: only white USPS pre-stamped or metered postcards, 3.5 × 4.25 inches through 4.25 × 6 inches, blue/black ink, with full name and PIN. Affixed stamps, stickers, tape, alterations, stains, perfume/lipstick, nudity, weapons and gang references are barred.
Legal/privileged mail: incoming correspondence from counsel, courts, government agencies or elected officials is opened in the person’s presence for contraband and not read/censored. Confirm the complete delivery address before sending originals because the page omits it.
Money orders: address Henry County Sheriff’s Office, ATTN: Inmate Accounts, 120 Henry Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253; do not put the person’s name on the envelope; make it payable to Henry County Sheriff’s Office and put name/PIN on memo.
Photos: up to 5 unaltered, non-Polaroid photos, 4 × 6 inches or smaller, envelope marked PICTURES with name/PIN to 505 Hampton Road, McDonough, GA 30253.

Send only the publication categories HCSO names
Softcover books must come directly from a publisher or bookstore. A person may possess 3 books total, including commissary puzzle books. Excess books go to property for exchange and may be disposed after 15 days. Periodicals require advance approval through an Inmate Request Form and can be delayed while staff inspect them and remove staples.
Packages may contain the same publisher/bookstore softcover books; inspection applies. The page does not publish a complete retailer list, book dimensions, invoice rule, rejection appeal, photo-original disposition or family package program beyond Access Corrections gift packs. Call 770-288-7100 before ordering anything outside the stated categories.

Deposit with the correct identity and keep the receipt
- Confirm name, PIN and current HCSO custody before paying. Access Corrections methods are app, web, CashPay Today, 866-345-1884 and jail-lobby kiosk.
- Published cash/internet limit is $300; a name disappears from deposit channels when account balance is $300 or more. Do not keep retrying under another identity.
- At release or transfer, HCSO says remaining balance is returned by debit card or transferred, after debts/fees. It also says a full balance—not partial—may be released while in custody to an authorized bonding agent or attorney of record. The property page says no money is released during custody. Confirm this conflict before relying on either route.
Commissary is twice weekly absent discipline; $50 per store call, cutoff 8:45 a.m. Monday and Thursday. After more than 14 days without funds, request the hygiene/writing/mailing indigent package.

Arrival and local help
Confirm the task-specific entrance and transport before traveling; no stop or accessible final path is inferred.
Use 120 Henry Parkway as the system checkpoint, not an unverified Annex entrance
Published HCSO destination: 120 Henry Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253. Administration is open Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4 p.m., excluding holidays; the secure jail operates 24/7. Those hours do not make every public counter continuously available.
- Before leaving, name the task—onsite visit, bond, money kiosk, property, legal delivery or release pickup—and call 770-288-7100.
- Ask which of the two facilities, which public door and whether the upstairs lobby instruction applies.
- Ask for the authorized visitor lot, drop-off, accessible curb-to-door route, after-hours waiting rule and towing limits. None is published. Do not use adjacent County/DFCS/Health parking without permission.

Treat transit as a call-ahead option, not a verified jail stop
Henry County now publishes Henry Connect microtransit in the McDonough zone, curb-to-curb county transit reservations at 770-288-7433, and weekday Route 1 between downtown McDonough and Stockbridge. No current official source reviewed identifies 120 Henry Parkway as a fixed stop, places it conclusively inside the microtransit zone, or verifies a safe accessible final walk.

Care, complaints and court
Route health, complaints, PREA, court, counsel and bond questions to the responsible office without sharing protected case facts.
Send medical information through the published hotline
- For routine medical, dental or psychological care, the detained person submits a sick-call request on the pod/block kiosk. HCSO says most requests are evaluated within 24 hours.
- For an emergency inside, the person tells jail staff, who notify medical. Family can provide history, medication, mental-health risk, glasses/device need and continuity information through the Medical Hotline at 404-465-4404; published callback is 1–2 business days.
- HCSO cannot disclose information without a documented Patient Release of Information. The patient requests that release through a Health Service Request.
Do not drop off medication, glasses or equipment unless medical staff gives person-specific authorization. The site does not publish an acceptance window, pharmacy, clinical fax, records route or discharge supply.

Separate an internal grievance from a public employee complaint
The detained person should use the kiosk/request process and ask staff for the current grievance form, deadline, response time and appeal level; HCSO does not publish those stages. Preserve the submission ID and response.
For a public complaint about employee conduct, Internal Affairs accepts the web form, hcsointernalaffairsunit@co.henry.ga.us, 770-288-7164, mail or in person at 120 Henry Parkway. Public office hours are Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4 p.m., excluding holidays. This external route does not replace urgent medical reporting or the detained person’s grievance/appeal.

Report immediate sexual-safety risk without waiting
Tell any staff member immediately when someone faces sexual abuse, harassment, retaliation or urgent protective risk; for an outside immediate emergency use 911. A family member may call 770-288-7100 and clearly ask for the Jail Operations/PREA duty route, or use Internal Affairs at 770-288-7164 / hcsointernalaffairsunit@co.henry.ga.us for employee-conduct reporting.
No current HCSO source reviewed publishes a dedicated PREA coordinator, anonymous third-party hotline, outside victim advocate, investigation-status contact, retaliation-monitoring route or audit. Do not substitute Metro RYDC or GDC PREA channels; those belong to separate custodians. Ask HCSO for confidential and anonymous options before sending sensitive detail by ordinary monitored email/text.

Match each charge to its court and lawyer
- Use the custody record for charges/bond, then the official court docket for filed case number, court, next date and counsel. Save both; they answer different questions.
- Felony defense: HCSO says use the inmate kiosk email for the Public Defender, 770-288-7460, 30 Atlanta Street. The County office represents Superior Court criminal cases, not City or State Court.
- Misdemeanor appointed counsel: HCSO lists Lister, Holt & Dennis at 770-210-8200. State Court clerk: 770-288-7800. Magistrate Court: 770-288-7700.
Arresting agency, jail housing and trial court are not interchangeable. Confirm appointment before assuming any listed lawyer represents the person.

Verify amount and holds before tendering bond
Bond poster must be 18 or older with government photo ID. HCSO publishes a nonrefundable $20 fee for each bond. Cash requires full amount plus $20. AYTICS accepts debit/credit 24 hours at 770-472-8977 with a published 10% online service fee. HCSO says it never solicits bond payment by phone/text/email/social media and never accepts gift cards, crypto, Cash App, Zelle or Venmo.
Property in Henry County needs clear equity equal to 2 times bond and originals listed by HCSO; every deed/tax owner must appear. Out-of-county transfer-bond papers must arrive sealed. Professional surety must be HCSO-approved; the Sheriff lists companies without preference.
- Confirm person, each bond amount, bondable status, court and every hold.
- Confirm accepted method, exact total, door and release clearance immediately before payment.
- Keep receipt. Payment is not a promised release time.
Sources: HCSO bonding · HCSO inmate search
Property, release and reentry
Confirm property, holds, release processing and first-week support; a court or payment event is not an exit-time promise.
Act within the 15-day clothing window
At booking the person designates someone to receive clothing. That recipient presents valid photo ID and can pick it up Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–3 p.m. within 15 days. After 15 days, clothing may be donated/discarded. Phones, keys, wallets and jewelry remain for return at release.
After release, the person has 30 days to retrieve additional property. HCSO says they may call someone to bring release clothing. Call 770-288-7100 before travel for authorization status, exact property door, holiday closure and whether the current building changes pickup. Police evidence and vehicle impound are separate from jail property.

Plan pickup only after the jail confirms ready-to-release status
- Confirm the order/bond is received and ask about other-court, warrant, state, federal or immigration holds. A court order or paid bond is not physical release.
- Ask 770-288-7100 which facility and exit, whether release is actually ready, where a driver may wait and whether clothes/medication or accessibility help is needed.
- The person should receive stored property and remaining account value under current procedure; HCSO says remaining funds are returned by debit card after deductions. Check property before leaving and report missing items promptly.
No official source reviewed gives a release-processing estimate, Annex exit, pickup lot, discharge-medication supply, transportation or after-hours waiting room.

Ask Inmate Relations about actual enrollment
HCSO publishes GED/career/life skills, welding, Pathway Forward, fatherhood, women’s academy, literature, Alcoholics Anonymous, Celebrate Recovery and screened voluntary inmate work. The page describes opportunities, not universal eligibility.
- The detained person submits an Inmate Request and asks Inmate Relations which programs serve the present housing, classification and remaining custody time.
- Ask for enrollment window, screening, waitlist, materials and effect of discipline/transfer.
- Do not promise accelerated release. HCSO says work can help participants complete sentences faster, but no formula or individual entitlement is published.
Sources: HCSO programs · HCSO commissary/request process
Build a release plan from confirmed destinations
Ask Inmate Relations/Chaplaincy about The Bridge transition planning and Pathway Forward housing, transportation and job-readiness modules. Ask what the person is actually enrolled in and what referral will exist at release; a program description is not a promised placement.
- Benefits/family services: Henry DFCS, 125 Henry Parkway, 770-288-8989.
- Health: Henry Health Department, 135 Henry Parkway, 470-661-0005.
- Mental-health/substance crisis: Georgia Crisis and Access Line 800-715-4225 or text 988.
- Emergency housing navigation: 844-249-8367.
Confirm ID, medication, phone, clothing, ride, supervision office and court conditions before release. None of these contacts guarantees same-day service, housing or transport.

Finding someone held here
Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.
Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.
Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?
No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.
Does posting bond mean the person comes home?
Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.
What should I confirm before visiting?
The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.
What if I find something that needs correcting?
Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
