Nevada County Sheriff — Inmates in Custody
Official Search for an Incarcerated Person and Corrections Division pages (checked 2026-09-12): two Sheriff facilities — Wayne Brown in Nevada City and the Truckee temporary housing facility. The Inmates in Custody roster at reports.nevcounty.net lists who is currently in custody and the visiting hours for Wayne Brown. There are no personal visits at Truckee. Corrections Division will not give booking numbers to the public — obtain that from the incarcerated person. The Sheriff will not give release dates to the public. Register with VINE for custody-status updates. Jail411 does not host inmate names. CIRIS is CDCR (Washington Ridge), not this jail. Sierra County’s official Temporary Housing Facility page (checked 2026-09-12) says Sierra inmates are housed primarily here; Sierra’s official inmate-search link is this same roster. Sheriff Shannan Moon.

Three things to confirm before the trip.
Visits are by appointment only. The incarcerated person schedules the visit — jail staff will not. Arrive at 925 Maidu Avenue — not 950 Maidu Avenue Suite 280 (Sheriff HQ), not 201 Church Street (courthouse), and not 10879 Donner Pass Road (Truckee Jail, no personal visits).
- 01Confirm custody
Search the Inmates in Custody roster or call (530) 265-1291.
The roster also prints that person’s Tuesday/Thursday and Wednesday/Friday visiting window. If the person is at Truckee Jail there are no personal visits. If they are at Washington Ridge Conservation Camp (11425 Conservation Camp Road), this door and these vendors are wrong.
- 02The incarcerated person books it
Jail staff will not schedule visits.
Official Visitation page (checked 2026-09-12): drop-in visits are not allowed. Up to four 30-minute non-contact visits per week. Late visitors lose the late time — the visit still ends on schedule.
- 03Arrive at 925 Maidu Avenue
Not 950 Maidu Avenue and not Truckee Jail.
Locations page: first left into the Government Center, first parking lot on the right, main visitation lobby through the glass doors. Current government photo ID. Maximum 4 people (2 adults and 2 minors). Nothing in the visiting rooms except as staff allow — no cell phones or cameras.
01 / Visiting
Wayne Brown Correctional Facility visiting hours.
Official Visitation page updated 10/26/2023 (checked 2026-09-12): visitation is by appointment only. Arrangements must be made with the incarcerated person. Jail staff will not schedule visits. Each incarcerated person may receive up to four (4) 30-minute visits per week. All visits are non-contact. People under quarantine/isolation cannot visit until medical clears them. The Inmates in Custody roster (checked 2026-09-12) repeats: public visiting hours Tuesday through Friday 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. by appointment only, and prints each person’s Tuesday/Thursday and Wednesday/Friday window. Call (530) 265-1291 for that person’s hours. Visitations may be suspended without warning. It is the incarcerated person’s responsibility to notify the visitor. Housing moves, quarantine, emergency, or full-facility lockdown cancel visits. If the roster does not show this jail, do not come here. There are no personal visits at Truckee Jail.
