Sonoma County Sheriff Incarcerated Person Search

Official Incarcerated Person Search (checked 2026-09-12): after the disclaimer, search by last name or booking number at inmatesearch.sonomasheriff.org/JailInmateSearch/Home/. The page says the display is persons arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail who are in custody at the time of the search. Jail411 does not host inmate names. Read which building — MADF (this door, 2777 Ventura) or NCDF (2254 Ordinance Road). Pigeonly and publisher mail need the booking number. Spanish search is linked on that app. CIRIS is CDCR, not this jail. Sheriff-Coroner Eddie Engram. Facilities page: MADF opened 1991 as a direct-supervision medium/maximum jail in the Hall of Justice Complex; 1997 expansion; 2018 page text lists a total capacity of 1,473. Current rated capacity is not reprinted as a single live number on the 2026-09-12 Detention page.

Before you leave home

Three things to confirm before the trip.

Personal visits require an appointment. Call (707) 565-1400 Tuesday–Friday 3:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. (no same-day sign-ups). Visits are Saturday, Sunday, and Monday only. Confirm the person is at MADF — North County is a different building 7 miles northwest.

  1. 01Confirm MADF

    Search inmatesearch.sonomasheriff.org or call (707) 565-1400.

The roster must show this jail. If the person is at North County Detention Facility, use 2254 Ordinance Road — not 2777 Ventura.

  2. 02Book the slot

    Call Tuesday–Friday 3:00–9:00 p.m.

Official Detention Visitation Information (checked 2026-09-12): appointments first-come, first-served by phone only. Give the ID number when you book. Cancel with 24-hour notice or you can lose visiting. No personal visiting Tuesday–Friday.

  3. 03Arrive at 2777 Ventura Avenue

Not 2796 Ventura (Sheriff HQ) and not 625 Administration Drive (Hall of Justice clerk).

Check in with the lobby 20 minutes before the visit. Visitor parking is at the county complex; several lots are permit-only and availability is limited due to construction — use the County Complex Parking Map 2025. Bring accepted photo ID. Leave phones, extra keys, and bags in the car or a lobby locker (lockers are limited).

01 / Visiting

Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility visiting hours.

Official Detention Visitation Information (checked 2026-09-12): personal visits by appointment only. Call (707) 565-1400 Tuesday–Friday 3:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. Personal visiting days are Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. 30 minutes. One visit per visitation day (module workers may receive two 30-minute visits per visitation day, consecutive if time and space permit — MADF visitor DOCX). Check in 20 minutes prior. Starting February 22, 2025 MADF visit times are the table below. The MADF visitor DOCX evening times differ slightly (7:15 / 8:00 vs 7:30 / 8:05) — use the time the lobby gives you when you book. Personal visiting also on New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (DOCX). Professional / program-provider drop-in hours are a different track (lobby, no appointment). Housing moves and lockdowns cancel visits. If the inmate search shows NCDF, do not come here. Call (707) 565-1400 before you drive.

Ask the jail before setting out. Jail411 will not guess at a rule that could cause a missed visit.

Money and commissary

How to send money to Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility.

The published deposit route is inmatecanteen.com / TouchPay kiosk (general); ViaPath / GettingOut (communication). Confirm the person is still housed here and keep the booking number ready before depositing.

  1. 01

Official Depositing Money page (checked 2026-09-12): general/commissary account at inmatecanteen.com or the TouchPay kiosk in the MADF lobby during business hours, or call 1-667-265-8182.

  2. 02

Communication account (phone calls, tablet services, text messaging) with credit/debit at ViaPath (my.viapath.com Sonoma facility search) / GettingOut.

  3. 03

Any deposit (check or cash) after initial booking that would push the account over $1,000.00 is refused.

  4. 04

Preferred method for money orders, certified checks, and cashier’s checks is U.S. mail. Cashier may, case-by-case, accept cash, money orders, certified checks, cashier’s checks, and government checks. Government checks must be payable to the inmate; tax-refund checks with a second party need that party to endorse in the cashier’s presence with photo ID.

Release and property

Bail, property, and commissary pickup

01Bail

Search first, then cash or a licensed bond — Hall of Justice is 625 Administration Drive

Confirm the person is still at MADF on the Incarcerated Person Search or (707) 565-1400. Post cash or a licensed bail bond. Sonoma Superior Court Criminal Bail Schedule (2025-bail-schedule-order.pdf, Fee & Bail Schedules page checked 2026-09-12). Criminal Division, Hall of Justice, 625 Administration Drive, (707) 521-6620 (phones 8:00 a.m.–noon). Detention Alternatives / electronic monitoring is a sentenced program run from NCDF, (707) 578-6042 — applications in either lobby; not walk-in cash bail. Sheriff Immigration page: the jail does not honor immigration holds and only acts on warrants issued by a judge; ICE is not allowed in the jail except to make an arrest. Posting a bond does not guarantee release if a probation, parole, or out-of-county hold applies. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6). Jail411 does not publish a bondsman directory.

02Property / BPR

Inmate Property Release form; Book-Print-Release is a separate lobby appointment

Depositing Money page: withdrawals need an Inmate Property Release form. Government checks payable to the inmate only. Book, Print, Release (fingerprints/DNA) is by appointment Tuesday and Saturday 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., one appointment per hour, lobby (707) 565-1400 — that is not visiting.

03After release

Call (707) 565-1400 — pickup window not on the live Commissary page

Not printed as a pickup window on the reviewed Commissary page. Call (707) 565-1400.

After booking

Court, a lawyer, probation, and parole.

Court, counsel, and probation are separate from the jail. State parole is a different agency. This is the process a family actually has to walk—not a directory of private bondsmen or attorneys.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
