Before you leave home

Three things to confirm before the trip.

In-person visits at Maguire are reserved by calling (650) 599-3000 and selecting the Maguire visitation prompt, a maximum of one day in advance. No public visiting on Mondays. Confirm Maguire on the Inmate Locator before you drive — Maple Street is a different door.

  1. 01Confirm Maguire

    Search smc-inmatelocator.org or call (650) 599-3000.

If the person is at Maple Street Correctional Center, go to 1300 Maple Street — not here. If they are at Youth Services Center / Juvenile Hall, go to 222 Paul Scannell Drive and call (650) 312-5200. If they are at San Francisco County Jail #3, that is 1 Moreland Drive, San Bruno, SF Sheriff. Sheriff HQ at 330 Bradford Street is not visiting.

  2. 02Reserve the day before

Call (650) 599-3000 and choose Maguire visitation.

Official MCF Visiting Information Rev 11.07.23 (checked 2026-09-12): reserve a timeslot a maximum of 1 day in advance. Give the information on your current/valid government photo ID and on the IDs of anyone coming with you. That must be the same ID you show at lobby check-in.

  3. 03Arrive at 300 Bradford Street

Not 330 Bradford Street and not 1300 Maple Street.

Check in at least 15 minutes before the slot and no more than 45 minutes before. Late arrivals are cancelled and may reschedule the next available slot the same day. Up to three visitors. Lockers for small items are free. Call (650) 599-3000 before you drive.

Release and property

Bail, property, and commissary pickup

01Bail

Cash at the Maguire lobby cashiers window, or a licensed bond — Criminal Division is 400 County Center 4th Floor

Confirm Maguire on the Inmate Locator or (650) 599-3000. Official Inmate Bail FAQs (checked 2026-09-12): if eligible, post a cash bond at the cashiers window in the jail lobby, or use a licensed bail-bond agency. The Sheriff maintains a bail-bond placard in the Maguire lobby and during intake (calendar year 2026 list is finalized) — Jail411 does not republish a bondsman directory. After a judge grants bail, the person may leave until required court dates; failure to appear risks forfeiture. Criminal Division is Hall of Justice, 400 County Center 4th Floor, Redwood City, and Northern Branch, 1050 Mission Road, South San Francisco; both (650) 261-5100, Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Local schedules: 2026 Uniform Bail and Penalty Schedule and Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule effective August 3, 2026 on sanmateo.courts.ca.gov. Alternative Sentencing Bureau / Sheriff’s Work Program / Electronic Monitoring: 1300 Maple Street, (650) 599-3030 (fees waived effective July 1, 2021). Posting a bond does not guarantee release if a hold applies. Official Immigration Detainers page (checked 2026-09-12): the County ordinance and state law — the Sheriff will not hold, detain, house, transfer, or otherwise facilitate an arrest unless pursuant to a judicial warrant or otherwise required by federal or state statute, regulation, or court decision. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6).

02Property

Approved Property Release form — pickup at the Maguire lobby

Official MCF Visiting Information PDF (checked 2026-09-12): Maguire and Maple Street property or clothing will not be released unless the incarcerated person generated a Property Release form and it completed approval. Property is released in the Maguire Facility lobby throughout the day as time permits once the approved form is at that lobby. Clothing is not released unless the person has been committed to a state facility.

03After release

Call (650) 599-3000 — pickup window not on the live Commissary page

Pickup window after release is not printed on the Commissary HTML. Call (650) 599-3000.

After booking

Court, a lawyer, probation, and parole.

Court, counsel, and probation are separate from the jail. State parole is a different agency. This is the process a family actually has to walk—not a directory of private bondsmen or attorneys.

02 Appointed counsel

Private Defender — 333 Bradford Street, Suite 200

San Mateo County uses a Private Defender Program, not a county Public Defender’s Office. Ask the judge at the first criminal appearance if you cannot afford an attorney.

Official Private Defender Program (pdpsmcba.org, checked 2026-09-12): Main Office 333 Bradford Street, Suite 200, Redwood City, CA 94063, Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., (650) 298-4000. Bench warrant: call that number and ask for attorney of the day; juvenile warrants (650) 312-5396. This is not jail visiting.

03 County supervision

Probation is not parole

A probation hold can block release after bail. Official Adult Probation Redwood City (checked 2026-09-12): 400 County Center Floor 5, (650) 363-4244. Pretrial Services: 400 County Center Floor 1, same phone. Youth housing is Youth Services Center / Juvenile Hall, 222 Paul Scannell Drive, (650) 312-5327. Parent visits: (650) 312-5200. Assigned DPO: (650) 312-8816. Do not use Maguire visiting, Smart Jail Mail, or Access Corrections for a youth.

(650) 363-4244

04 State parole, not county

San Jose / Redwood City parole — 909 Coleman Avenue

CDCR Northern Region directory (updated 9/11/2026) lists San Jose 1, South Bay GPS, & Redwood City at 909 Coleman Avenue, San Jose, CA 95110, (408) 277-1821. No San Mateo city unit is listed. State parole is not San Mateo County Probation. Report to the office named in the release papers.

Custody information(650) 599-3000 →

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
