Before you leave home

Three things to confirm before the trip.

Visits are non-contact, first come first served, and tied to a housing unit. Fill out a Visitor Request Form in the public lobby at 901 5th Street, Eureka, and present it with ID at least 30 minutes before the session. Call (707) 441-5159 for the housing unit before you drive.

  1. 01Confirm custody

Search VINELink or Jail Reports, or call (707) 441-5159.

Ask which housing unit — N339 cells, N219, N320, N334, Medical, S377, S363 (general or workers), S385, S529 cells, S547, or S555 — because each has its own days and windows on the live Visiting Inmates page.

  2. 02Arrive at 901 5th Street

    Not 826 4th Street.

Official Visiting Inmates page: public lobby of Humboldt County Correctional Facility, 901 5th St., Eureka. Sheriff Main Station / HQ is 826 4th Street on the courthouse ground floor — that is not the visitor door. Be in the lobby with items locked up 10 minutes before the session. Registration is 8:00 a.m.–9:20 p.m.; visits end at 10:00 p.m. (Inmate Orientation Handbook, revised September 9, 2024).

  3. 03Bring ID only

Visitor Request Form + photo ID. Leave bags in the car.

Accepted ID (Visiting Inmates page): any state driver license, any state ID card, federal ID, military ID, passport, or a current DMV printout requesting a driver license or state ID. Two visitors at a time. Under 18 only with a parent or legal guardian and the minor’s birth certificate or court papers (or proof of emancipation). No cameras, recording devices, smoking, eating, drinking, provocative clothing, hand signals, or note writing. Intoxicated visitors are denied. Do not leave minors unattended in the lobby.

01 / Visiting

Humboldt County Correctional Facility visiting hours.

Official Visiting Inmates page (checked 2026-09-12, page dated June 16, 2025): at least two 30-minute sessions per week unless visiting is lost for discipline. Sessions begin on the hour and half hour. One session per inmate per day. First come, first served. Times are subject to cancellation; temporary schedules may not be on the website or the voice recording. If you are commuting from outside greater Eureka, call (707) 441-5159. After the form, the receptionist names the booth, elevator, and floor. Elevators are remote-operated. Leave when asked so the next session is not delayed. Handbook: all visits non-contact and subject to monitoring; video kiosks in the housing unit during tier time. Housing moves change the window. Call (707) 441-5159 or ask the 901 5th Street receptionist before you drive. N334* and S377* / S547* are marked on the live table as units where only one cell can visit at a time (2017 schedule PDF still linked from county search; live 2025 table keeps the asterisks).

  • 30 minutes. Visitors must be in the lobby with items locked up 10 minutes prior.

In-person visiting times by housing module

Saturday and Sunday windows are published for several units (N219, N320, N334, S377, S363, S385, S529, S547, S555). Still match the person’s unit. Medical is Tuesday evening and Friday afternoon only. Find the housing module first, then the day.

Inmate Orientation Handbook (revised September 9, 2024): video visitation kiosks in the housing unit during tier time. Misuse (nudity, sharing accounts) can suspend the account. The public Visiting Inmates page does not publish a video-reservation URL or a named video vendor.

Do not assume

These details are not published.

Ask the jail before setting out. Jail411 will not guess at a rule that could cause a missed visit.

  • A named current inmate-telephone vendor or friends-and-family login URL on the public Sheriff Inmate Information pages (checked 2026-09-12)
  • Per-minute phone or video rates
  • A public remote video-visit reservation URL (handbook names in-unit kiosks only)
  • Labeled visitor parking, last-mile entrance signage, and locker details at 901 5th Street beyond “items locked up 10 minutes prior”
  • A separate inmate-releases webpage (Bail, Booking, Funds, and Visiting are live; a Releases child page was not found at the IDs tried 2026-09-12)
  • Whether Access Corrections and mailed money orders post the same day

Phone calls

Humboldt County Correctional Facility phone calls collect or PIN debit.

Official Inmate Information page (checked 2026-09-12): most inmates have daily access to telephones in their housing units. Calls 7:30 a.m.–11:00 p.m. except during lock-down. All calls are collect, except free local calls allowed during booking. Inmates cannot receive incoming calls. Staff will not take telephone or in-person messages unless there is a verifiable emergency. Inmate Orientation Handbook: phones during day-room periods only; collect or PIN debit; maximum 30 minutes; no expectation of privacy except attorney calls; staff may monitor. An account is set up in processing before housing. Important numbers are posted in each unit for free calls. The public Sheriff pages checked 2026-09-12 do not name a current phone vendor or publish a friends-and-family login URL. Per-minute rates are not on those pages. Video kiosks are described in the handbook, not on the public Telephone section.

  1. 01No incoming calls

    They have to call you.

Inmate Information page: inmates cannot receive incoming calls. Messages are not taken unless it is a verifiable emergency. Remove collect-call blocks if you want the call to go through.

Release and property

Bail, property, and commissary pickup

01Bail

Exact amount to Humboldt Superior Court, or a licensed bond

Official Bail page (checked 2026-09-12): two methods. Cash bail — cash, traveler’s checks, money orders, or certified checks in the exact amount, made out to “Humboldt Superior Court.” Personal and business checks are not accepted. Anyone, including the inmate, may post cash bail. Bail bond — a licensed bail agent; phone numbers are in the phone book or on the lobby bulletin board. Jail411 does not publish a bondsman directory. “The Humboldt County Correctional Facility will never contact you to collect a bail payment.” Humboldt Superior Court 2026 Bail Schedule (humboldt.courts.ca.gov/forms-filings/fee-and-bail-schedules) plus 2026 Uniform Bail and Penalty Schedules. Confirm the person is still here on VINELink, Jail Reports, or (707) 441-5159. Booking page: bail information may not be available until booking is complete; court is the next two court days (not weekends/holidays). Posting a bond does not guarantee release if a probation hold, parole hold, or out-of-county warrant applies. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6).

02Personal property

One release; clothing stays; lobby pickup with ID

Inmate Funds page: the jail does not accept property for any inmate. Court clothing only through the attorney. One property release during incarceration from the personal property bag; clothing cannot be released. Trust funds may be released once within the first seven days. Named person comes to the public lobby with ID; money is a check. Handbook: Patrol Division property is held 60 days — contact the Property Department. Call (707) 441-5159.

03After release

Five business days after Thursday delivery — call (707) 441-5159

Handbook: if released before commissary is delivered, five business days from the Thursday delivery to pick up at the reception window. Call (707) 441-5159.

After booking

Court, a lawyer, probation, and parole.

Court, counsel, and probation are separate from the jail. State parole is a different agency. This is the process a family actually has to walk—not a directory of private bondsmen or attorneys.

Probation is not parole

A probation hold can block release after bail. Chief Coral Sanders. Hours Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–noon and 1:00–4:30 p.m. Fax (707) 445-1627. Youth detention is Juvenile Hall at 2006 Harrison — (707) 445-7644 — not this admin line.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
